Sensex falls around 100 points; foreign investors sell

Sensex is down 0.37 per cent and Nifty slips down by 0.31 per cent

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex is down 0.37 per cent, while the broader Nifty is 0.31 per cent lower. Foreign investors sold Indian cash shares worth a net 1.04 billion rupees ($17.8 million) on Tuesday, their first sales since April 16, as per the provisional data of NSE and SEBI.

Larsen & Toubro declines 1.6 per cent, while HDFC bank is down 1.1 per cent. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd falls 2 per cent after the U.S. FDA said on Tuesday that the drug maker' response to a US import ban on one of its plants lacked 'sufficient corrective actions'.

But some domestic-oriented stocks continue to gain: NTPC gains 2.5 per cent, while Bank of Baroda is up 0.6 per cent.
