Technocrats unlikely to get a berth
New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, who was reportedly “upset” earlier over being kept out of the consultations on government formation, met Narendra Modi at Gujarat Bhavan on Monday. After the meeting, it appeared that she had decided to make peace.
Contrary to speculation, the Modi government is unlikely to bring in technocrats in any of the major ministries as there is a long queue of politicians waiting for ministerial berths.
Some young faces who could be part of a Modi ministry include Dhar-mendra Pradhan, Anu-rag Thakur and Varun Gandhi. If Varun joins the government, it is unlikely that his mother Maneka, who was environment minister in the Vajpayee government, would get a berth. Arun Shourie, may get the post of an adviser if he is not included in the Cabinet.
