Pawan Kalyan emerges everyone’s lucky mascot

Elected leaders extend gratitude to Pawan, Chiru doesn’t give credit to brother

Hyderabad: Fortunes of the mega actor-brothers have reversed. Till yesterday, megastar Chiranjeevi was a Union Minister. When he was in the city his house was always crowded with visitors, political leaders and fans. In direct contrast was star brother Pawan Kalyan, whose house had a quiet deserted look with hardly anyone around.

The recent general elections have reversed their fortunes. Today while Mr Chiranjeevi’s house is deserted, Pawan Kalyan’s house is crowded with top political leaders. Recently elected MLAs and MPs of the TD and the BJP are queuing up in front of his house to thank him for his poll campaign supporting the TD and the BJP candidates.

Both Mr Chiranjeevi and Mr Pawan Kalyan are actor-turned-politicians. After the elections, the TD in Seemandhra and the BJP at the Centre came to power which boosted Mr Pawan Kalyan’s image.

Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi himself telephoned Mr Pawan Kalyan and thanked for his support in the elections.

TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu hosted a lunch in his honour. Seeing the upswing in his fortunes, several MPs and MLAs including Maganti Venkateswar Rao, Murali Mohan, K. Hari Babu and others rushed to convey their good wishes and thanks.

While recently elected BJP and TD MPs and MLAs and leaders are extending gratitude to Mr Pawan Kalyan for his support, his brother Mr Chiranjeevi is not giving him any credit.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Mr Chiranjeevi said there was no ‘Pawan Kalyan effect’ on the Congress in the recent general elections and added that all over the country the Congress got a negative response.

Mr Chiranjeevi said they would strive hard to strengthen the party from rural to urban level. He said there were many reasons including state bifurcation for the debacle of the Congress. Several TD and BJP leaders are planning to use Mr Pawan Kalyan in getting political posts as he is on close terms with Mr Naidu and Narendra Modi. However, his supporters hotly denied it.

Meanwhile, defeated candidate from Sangareddy Assembly constituency Jagga Reddy met Mr Pawan Kalyan on Monday and announced that he would work with Jana Sena Party which was floated by Mr Pawan Kalyan.

Mr Pawan Kalyan said people needed committed leaders like Mr Jagga Reddy and added that he was looking forward to working wi-th him. Mr Pawan Kalyan said he would announce the future plans of the Jana Sena Party soon.

The BJP national president Rajnath Singh has extended an invitation to Mr Pawan Kalyan to participate in the NDA meeting which is scheduled on Tuesday at Delhi.
