Mumbai: It has been a rough road for Vidya Balan lately. She has been the talk of town and not in a good way. First it was the lukewarm response to her films Ghanchakkar and Shaadi Ke Side Effects, followed by the rumours about her pregnancy and then the possibility of Siddharth Roy Kapur and her headed for splitsville. Last week, however, Siddharth did rubbish the talks about them having marital problems. Vidya too put the record straight.
But now she wants to remain tight-lipped. Vidya attended a film festival recently, which was hosted by Subhash Ghai, and her attitude at that event triggered another round of speculations. Unlike other celebrities present, she didn’t interact with the media.
“She is aware of the inevitable questions that she’ll be asked. Vidya has always been very vocal about her life and career. But right now she wants to lie low and people must respect that,” says our source.
Her physical appearance also led to some talks. Vidya, who was wearing a kanjivaram sari at the event, was not exactly her comfortable self.
“It seemed that she was trying hard to hide the baby bump but it was noticed by the media. She also looked very uncomfortable holding onto the pallu of her sari. The otherwise chirpy Vidya was definitely not in her element,” says an eyewitness.
Meanwhile the rumours continue. Her backing out of the Iifa at the eleventh hour, then minimising her public appearances and even deciding to do selective publicity for Bobby Jasoos — all of this seems to confirm the pregnancy rumours.
But we’ll only know for sure when the lady decides to speak.
