K Chandrasekhar Rao meets Andhra Pradesh Governor with TRS leaders
Hyderabad: TRS legislators led by Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Sunday and formally informed him of the election of the leader of their legislature party after getting a majority in the elections in Telangana.
During the meeting, the Governor questioned some of remarks made against him by TRS leaders when the Telangana agitation was at it height.
“Where is Mr Harish Rao, the tall leader of the party?” the Governor asked. One of the delegation replied that Mr Harish Rao was away on urgent work. Mr Harish Rao had demanded that the Governor be sent back, and had created scenes in the Assembly including throwing paper at the Governor when he arrived to address the Joint House.
“That was all part of the agitation; no one is against you personally. Don’t take it to heart sir,” Mr Rao, Chief Minister-in-waiting, told Mr Narasimhan.
The Governor reciprocated, and said, “I have nothing against you or anyone. I am just casually mentioning this.”
Mr Rao introduced all the TRS MLAs and the party secretary-general and MP, Mr K. Kesava Rao to the Governor.
Later at a one-on-one meeting, Mr Chandra-sekhar Rao mentioned the power crisis that Telangana could face in the next few years and sought the Governor’s help to tide over the situation. Mr Narasimhan reportedly replied, “Sir, you are going to be Chief Minister and power (political) will be in your hands.” At this Mr Rao merely smiled.
