Google celebrates 40th anniversary of Rubik’s cube with interactive doodle

Try solving the Rubik's cube on its 40th anniversary

Mumbai: In 1974, Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik, gave birth to one of the world’s most popular puzzles, that’s right the Rubik’s cube. What is known to only a few is that the cube was originally named the ‘Magic Cube’.

In a classic Rubik's Cube, nine stickers cover each of the six faces, each one of six solid colours (white, red, blue, orange, green, and yellow). An internal pivot mechanism enables each face to turn independently, thus mixing up the colours. For the puzzle to be solved, each face must be returned to consisting of one colour.

Today Google dedicates its doodle to the world’s most loved brainteaser, celebrating 40 years of its invention. This interactive doodle allows the user to solve the actual puzzle. Google is always surprising the world with its animated and interactive doodles.
