Security beefed up for Masjid blasts anniversary
Hyderabad: The city police has beefed up security measures in the old city in view of the anniversary of the Macca Masjid blasts on Sunday. As the anniversary comes within days of the Kishan Bagh communal violence, police is taking extra care to ensure a peaceful day and prevent any untoward incident.
A big contingent of security personnel, including six paramilitary companies, Rapid Action Force and Andhra Pradesh Special Police, will be on guard at all sensitive areas. RAF vehicles used to fire tear gas shells will also be at hand.
There will be intensive anti-sabotage checks in the area and additional pickets have been set up. “There will be checks. After the Kishan Bagh incident and mild tension in parts of the old city, the force is now more alert,” said Sarvashresth Tripathi, deputy commissioner of police, South Zone.
