Why did Aishwarya Rai Bachchan miss her first appearance at Cannes this year?

Mumbai: As an ambassador for a global beauty brand, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been a regular on the Cannes film festival’s red carpet. However, Ash had to miss her first appearance for this edition of the festival on May 16 because of a delayed flight. An ongoing air traffic control strike in France meant that Ash’s flight from London to Nice was delayed and she hasn’t been able to reach Cannes as planned.

A spokesperson from the L’Oreal team said that arrangements were now being made for Ash to walk the red carpet on another day. “Aishwarya was scheduled to make an appearance on the red carpet on May 16 and 21. While she will definitely be seen on the 21st, we will soon confirm a date for her second appearance.”

Ash was spotted leaving Mumbai for London with daughter Aaradhya and mom Brinda. Her departure for Cannes coincided with the announcement that she will soon be making her much-awaited Bollywood comeback with Sanjay Gupta’s next, Jazbaa. Jazbaa which will feature two male leads and should go on the floors next year.
