TRS plans mega rally on June 2
Hyderabad: Sure of a big win in Telangana Assembly polls, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti is gearing up for a mega rally in the city on June 2, the formation date of the new state.
With all surveys indicating a TRS victory, party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and other party leaders are in the government forming mood and making arrangements for the same.
The TRS Legislature Party will meet at the Telangana Bhavan on May 17, a day after the results are announced and formally elect the TRSLP leader. Sources in the TRS said the party is planning a mega public meeting at the Lal Bahadur Stadium, where Mr Rao and his Cabinet will take oath of office in public, it is reliably learnt.
In fact, the stage design and other formalities are being completed at jet speed. The stage will have photographs and names of all those who fought for Telangana.
“KCR will be the Chief Minister and he will have a Cabinet of about 12 ministers initially which may go up to 18. Or he may have all the 17 ministers and Chief Minister taking oaths at one go,” a TRS leader said.
Notwithstanding party leaders’ confidence of getting an absolute majority, the TRS leadership has kept options open for a tie-up with the Congress and the MIM if there is a shortfall in the magic figure of 60 MLAs out of the 119.
Though the party was part of the Mahakutami alliance with the Telugu Desam and Left parties in 2009, the TRS is not inclined to seek the support of the TD-BJP combine in Telangana.
The Telangana Bhavan too has been decked up for Friday’s results and the party leaders have ordered huge quantity of fire crackers and sweets for the momentous occasion. The statues of Talli Telangana and Prof. Jayashanker have been spruced up.
