AAP fails to perform, BJP leads in Delhi
New Delhi: The newbie AAP, which stunned one and all in the December last Delhi Assembly by winning 28 seats, was way behind the BJP candidates in the first two hour of counting in all the seven Lok Sabha seats.
While Delhi BJP president Harshvardhan logged 10,376 votes against AAP’s Ashutosh, who got 5,364 votes till 10 am in the prestigious Chandni Chowk seat. Congress MP and Union Minister Kapil Sibal got only 1,780 votes.
BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi was way head of her AAP rival Asish Khetan in the New Delhi seat. While Lekhi got 15,344 votes, Khetan bagged 10,022. Congress general secretary and local MP stood at number three position by bagging only 6,224 votes.
BJP’s Manoj Tiwari stunned one and all by scoring 7,390 votes against AAP’s Prof Anand Kumar in the North East constituency. Former Delhi Congress president and local MP J P Aggarwal stood at number three slot by securing only 2,684 votes.
The BJP candidates were leading against AAP in other four seats seats as well. The Congress candidates, representing South Delhi, East Delhi, North West and West Delhi, were trailing at number three position.
In the first two hours of polling, BJP logged 46.4 per cent votes against AAP’s 32.9. The Congress got only 14.5 per cent votes.
