Ukraine crisis: Kiev cuts water supply to Crimea

Civil war soon In Ukraine, says Russia

Kiev: The North Crimean canal has stopped supplying water to the unrecognised Republic of Crimea, reads a statement made by the State Water Resources Agency.

“The North Crimean canal is currently operating in a mode that has been adjusted to meet the needs of the Kherson Oblast’s water users due to the absence of constructive proposals to establish contractual relations for providing the Autonomous Republic of Crimea with water resources for domestic water supply and irrigation,” said the statement of May 8.

Meanwhile, Russia declared on Wednesday that Ukraine was on the edge of civil war just as Kiev’s leaders were to host Western-sponsored “national unity” talks to try to save the country from falling apart. The discussions which crucially do not involve the pro-Moscow rebels waging an armed insurgency come barely two weeks before Ukraine’s presidential polls
