Hyderabad: Predicting victory much before the elections results are out, supporters of political parties are planning a big bash on Friday.
Confident of a win, workers of the TRS in Telangana have already places orders for kilos of sweets and flowers. TRS corporators plan to carry out a massive rally, painting the city pink.
Meanwhile, sure of brisk business, firecracker merchants have stocked up. Supporters have also ordered mammoth cut-outs of their respective party heads.
Confident of a thumping victory, TRS Secunderabad MLA candidate, T. Padma Rao, said, “From 10,000-plus ladis to hydrogen bombs to flower pots, around a lakh crackers have already been purchased; supporters are just waiting for Friday, and not for the results, as we all know that TRS will be the winner".
"Diwali will be celebrated much in advance; Hyderabad will be turned into a pink city. Sweets, especially made of organic pink colour, have been ordered. A massive rally comprising TRS candidates will be taken out. The city will be covered with the TRS supremo’s posters.”
Other prominent political parties, however, are choosing to wait till the results are out.
Congress leaders said their party men would be deployed at the counting venue. “The party is certain of retaining major seats in Telangana; once the results are out, endless celebrations will be held at the party office,” said a Congress supporter.
City florists are also set to make a killing. Ahmed Bhai of Mozamjahi market said, “Orders of plain, multi flower and garlands with party symbols have been undertaken. There is a huge demand for fresh rose petals. Since they are our regular customers, the price for garlands will be slightly higher but not double.”
