AP Pollution Control Board told to be tough on violators

Vigilance dept recommended that technical committee be appointed to inspect all industries

Hyderabad: Vigilance and Enforcement department has recommended the Pollution Control Board to take action against industrial units within the 10-km radius of Osmansagar and also all industries operating without PCB consent. During inspections, it was found that several plastic units were operating within the 10-km radius of Osmansagar and Himayatsagar without consent of the APPCB. Some industries, it was found, were not properly maintaining treatment plants.

Vigilance conducted an enquiry after this newspaper published series of reports on pollution by drug, pharma and plastic industries in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar.

Vigilance reports said, “The agencies concerned are not taking any initiative to stop or prevent or relocate such industries which are in the residential areas.” The Vigilance department recommended that a technical committee be appointed to inspect all drug and pharma industries in city and outskirts.
