Telugu Desam leader killed in Bandar mandal

The suspects threw chilli powder in his eyes and stabbed him

Vijayawada: On Sunday, Bandar woke up to the brutal murder of a Telugu Desam leader, Parinkayala Rama Rao, 48, who actively took part in campaigning for the TD in recent elections.

On Saturday night, he was brutally attacked and killed by unknown persons near Manginapudi beach road at Kothapudi village of Bandar mandal. Rama Rao who was playing a key village level role, is the husband of P. Viswavathi, a former sarpanch of Patlapalem village.

According to the police, on Saturday night, Rama Rao was summoned by the Bandar Taluk police station as he was allegedly involved in cash distribution during elections.

While returning home from the police station at around 11.30 pm, miscreants who had hatched a plot to kill him, hurled chilli powder in his eyes and stabbed him in the abdomen and neck. Rama Rao died on the spot.

The local residents found Rama Rao lying in a pool of blood and informed the police. DSP Srinivas Reddy, Bandar Taluk inspector Murthy and others inspected the scene of the crime.

Based on a complaint by the victim’s son, Ashok Eswar Kumar, a murder case was registered. In his complaint he mentioned that villagers G. Nagaraju, B. Vasu and B. Madhu had a tiff with his father a year back and he had doubted them since then.
