Hyderabad: In view of the Chennai train blast, Cyberabad police is ensuring stricter vigil for IPL matches to be played in the city. As many as 1,500 police personnel will manage the security and traffic near Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, while for the first time, there will be 58 CCTV cameras in and around the stadium.
Cyberabad police commissioner, C.V.Anand said, about 680 law and order policemen, 270 traffic policemen, 4 platoons of armed police, apart from personnel from the Octopus, Intelligence and Counter Intelligence would be deployed. Eight units of bomb disposal squads would also conduct anti-sabotage checks at the stadium.
He also appealed to the public not to bring any electronic items. Vendors will have to display rate cards and vendor supervising teams will also be in place to
check vendors.
“This time we had checked everything beforehand and identified some loopholes,” said Mr Anand. “This is in view of the Chennai train blast and also because elections are going on,” Mr Anand explained. Traffic police has also identified specific places for parking. Avinash Mohanty, DCP (traffic), Cyberabad, said, “We appeal to the people to park their vehicles only in those places.”
