Mahesh Shetty is bad, but perfectly good at it
Mumbai: Mahesh Shetty is really good at being bad. After playing a baddie as Sid in Bade Achche Lagte Hai, the actor will be seen in a negative role again on crime-based show, Encounter. Turns out, Mahesh loves to be hated. “I have played a lot of grey characters. In fact, I bump into people who hate me for the roles I play, but I love what I do,” he says.
Mahesh prefers a grey character to a positive protagonist. “As the good guy you don’t have to use your head — all you get to do is be sweet and smile. Occasionally make a nice face and say dialogues like, ‘Aap khana khayenge?’ I can’t identify with such roles. On the other hand, as a baddie, you get to do a lot — you get to have a different body language and experiment with your looks. Moreover, the audience is like a teacher, always ready to scold you and I like that.”
The actor, who has been a part of Bade Achche Lagte Hai for a while now, says that he’s happy the way the show has shaped up.
“When you have actors like Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar in your show, the level of acting automatically goes up. I have been getting a lot of positive feedback for my acting as well as the show,” he says.
About his upcoming show, the actor says, “The interesting part about Encounter is that the show has a different take on a gangster’s life. It recreates their life in a very challenging way.”
When he isn’t shooting, the actor spends time with his family, which is his priority. “I am not into partying. I would rather spend my free time at home with family and friends or go for a trek,” he adds.
