Mumbai: Developers stumbled into some information that was embedded inside the source code, which revealed to them about the next Nexus device manufacturer.
The developers at XDA were looking into the changelist of the KitKat MR2 for Android v4.4.3 and found a few lines of code which mentioned a folder with the name ‘/device/htc/flounder’. This line confirmed that the next device could be from HTC. Google has been naming the Nexus devices after fish names and Flounder is also a name of a fish.
Also to mention, there was also another name mentioned in the codes, which was ‘Molly’. This is also a name of a fish, and the developers think this might be a media device or a set-top-box like the Android TV.
Google is set to announce details of the next devices in less than two months. We shall officially be able to know if the findings are pointing to the right information or not, post the information release from Google.
