Varanasi police close shop selling 'NaMo' marked rotis

Lucknow: The Varanasi police, on Friday, shut down a hotel that was serving chapattis with the ‘NaMo’ mark on them.

According to police, the machine used to imprint the BJP slogan ‘Abki baar, Modi sarkar’ and ‘NaMo’ on the chapattis has also been sealed and the owners of the eatery have been asked not to talk to the media.

Police said said that action was taken after some political leaders complained about this. BJP supporters have been placing mass orders of many products with ‘NaMo’ mark on them and these are being distributed th-rough various outlets as part of the BJP campaign.

The saffron party, has denied its role in Modi merchandize and said that enthusiastic supporters could be selling such items. A number of products are being sold in the markets of Varanasi with the ‘NaMo’ mark including bricks, balloons, laddoos, and jackets among others.
