New Delhi: Sony India launched its most anticipated premium smartphone, the Xperia Z2 in India, at MRP of Rs. 49,990. The smartphone combines Sony’s best design, display, sound, camera and camcorder experience, as well as an exclusive entertainment offer.
The latest flagship smartphone from Sony, which raised eyebrows at its global unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in Feb 2014, will be available from May 12th onwards at all key retail outlets across India.
The device offers a good value, as it comes bundled with the Sony SmartBand and a premium Sony case, in a limited period offer. Available in White, Black and Purple colour, Xperia Z2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad Core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, supported by 3GB RAM and a 3,200 mAh Battery in an 8.2mm slim smartphone.
Sony Xperia users can also stream and download XSCAPE, an album by the internationally acclaimed music icon and King of Pop - Michael Jackson for free through the Sony Music Jive application.

We plan to launch over 30 new smartphones this year and expand the distribution network to reach 12,000 touch-points, including 500 exclusive Xperia Lounge Stores. We have also allocated Rs. 350 crores as the marketing budget to execute a high-impact integrated marketing campaign that will enhance engagement of brand Xperia with customers in India.”
The Xperia Z2 Android smartphone is designed with Sony’s OmniBalance design. The phone has a slimmer and comfortable feel by having the glass panels encased in a single, aluminium frame with smooth edges. The smartphone is also dust-resistant and waterproof (IP55 & IP58) and offers the bright and vivid viewing experience on its 5.2-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display with Live Colour LED powered by X-Reality for mobile.
Sony Xperia Z2 includes G Lens, a 20.7 MP Exmor RS for mobile CMOS image sensor and BIONZ for mobile image processing engine. The smartphone can capture video in 4K resolution with SteadyShot for stable videos.
Sony also announced the launch of its SmartBand SWR10 today, an innovative Life log wrist band that lets you keep track of everything you do– your movements, your communication, your entertainment. What makes SmartBand smart is Life log, an Android app that records your physical, social and entertainment activities. You can see how active you were, where you went, what pictures you took, where and when and how you have been communicating with your world during any day.
