No doubts on Telugu Desam win: N Chandrababu Naidu
Hyderabad: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu is confident of TD-BJP combine winning 120 to 130 Assembly seats and 20 to 22 Lok Sabha seats in the just concluded polls in Andhra Pradesh. “I am declaring, we are forming the governme-nt. There is no doubt about it. The Congress has vanished from the scene. If you have any doubt on this, please re-move it from your mind. This is the minimum I have said. If there is undercurrent of a wave, the number will go up,” he remarked.
Asked about the TD-BJP combine’s chances in Telangana, Mr Naidu parried the question saying they did not do the exercise. Mr Naidu, who looked visibly tired after an ex-hausting month-long ca-mpaign in the scorching heat across Telangana and Seemandhra, thank-ed the voters, party leaders, cadres and of course the BJP’s prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi and actor Pawan Kalyan for the support.
“Rowdyism and physical attacks indicate signs of frustration and panic reaction. He (Jagan) tri-ed his best to reduce poll-ing percentage through rowdyism, threats, lure of money and liquor, but people defied all odds and came out in large numbers to cast their vo-te. I thank them. Five pe-ople died due to consum-ption of spurious liquor. No they did not die, they were killed. It’s an orga-nised crime,” he alleged.

Hitting out at YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for unleashing a reign of terror, Mr Nai-du alleged that factionalism and rowdyism, which was confined to Pulivendula and Kadapa district during YSR’s tenure, is now spreading to other parts of the sta-te and region. The TD chief reviewed the polling in Andhra Pradesh with party senior leaders from either regions and asked them to be alert during counting of votes on May 16.
When told about Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s claim of a big win, Mr Naidu said, “Mr Jagan never told the truth in life. There are so many corruption charges aga-inst him. Ten charge-sheets have been filed against him.” Condemning rigging and violent attacks on party leaders, cadres, police and media personnel in Kadapa and other districts, Mr Naidu said the party has demanded re-polling in 10 booths in Jammalamadugu and 7 polling stations in Mydu-kur in Kadapa district.
“I warn YSRC to stop such rowdyism. If a lea-der himself indulges in such acts, one can expect the shape of things to come. I thank the TD lea-ders and cadres for repu-lsing attacks and ensuring good turnout of voters. Cant we hit back? No, we wanted free and fair polls,” he added. The TD chief once ag-ain took pot shots at the Chief Electoral Officer, the Election Commissi-on and the Governor for their failure to curb malpractices in the polls and hunting down the suppliers of cash and liquor.
