Wakf board officer plans to sue dargah caretaker
Hyderabad: AP State Wakf Board’s special officer Shaik Mohammad Iqbal, announced on Thursday that he will file a civil and criminal defamation suit against Syed Akbar Nizamuddin Hussaini, mutawalli (caretaker) of Dargah Shah Khamosh, and others, for making derogatory allegations against him.
Addressing a press conference here at his office, the special officer said that Mr Hussaini and others had alleged that he was politically motivated and influenced by land grabbers and encroachers when he took action against certain caretakers of dargahs. He said the allegations were baseless and intended to tarnish his image.
He exhibited documents to prove that the Wakf Board had obtained the sale deeds executed by Mr Hussaini when he sold part of the 867 acres of land of the Dargah Shah Khamosh and also 121 acres and 17 guntas of dargah land at Maqta Khanojiguda in Alwal.
He said that Mr Hussaini had been claiming that his signature was forged and he never executed any sale deed. The Wakf Board has therefore asked the CCS police to send the sale deeds to the forensic lab to verify the signature of Mr Hussaini.
He said the reply given by Mr Hussaini to the show-cause notice issued by the Wakf Board was not satisfactory and Mr Hussaini’s suspension would be continued. Meanwhile, the properties belonging to the Dargah Shah Khamosh would be under the direct control of the Wakf Board.
The Wakf Board had suspended Mr Hussaini last Friday on charges of misappropriation of funds and selling Wakf land. A case has been registered against him at the Central Crime Station.
