Hyderabad: The English and Foreign Language University student council has called for a 'Chalo Eflu' rally on May 12, in support of the students who have been rusticated for breaking the library door in March.
The ongoing protest gained support of social activists Kaki Madhava Rao (former chief secretary, AP), Kodandha Ram (Telangana political JAC convener), Bellaiah Naik (Aam Aadmi Party, Telangana convenor), D.T. Naik (former additional DGP) and Jagannatha Rao (retired IGP).
Meanwhile, Eflu Vice-Chancellor Sunaina Singh, responding to the appeal made by these activists on behalf of the three rusticated students, said, “If the three rusticated students make a direct and sincere appeal to me in writing and apologise for the violation, I will direct their appeal to the committee, which had taken the decision. Based on that, I will look into the matter sympathetically.”
The three students — Mohan Dharavath, Satish Nainala and Subhash Kumar — were rusticated for allegedly breaking the glass door of the library in March.
