Movie 'Kochadaiiyaan' is just the beginning
Chennai: In a laudable technological advancement, Centroid Motion Capture, a name to reckon with in motion capture technology, which also worked on Superstar Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan, is collaborating with Chennai-based company, PixelKraft, to launch Centroid India, its Indian arm.
Centroid Motion Capture, which has been instrumental in many crucial scenes for films like Quantum of Solace, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Prometheus, Prince of Persia, and others, has plans to enter the Indian film industry to enhance its stature.
Phil Stilgoe, founder of Centroid, says, “Working on Kochadaiiyaan was a wonderful experience. I got to know more about the Indian film industry and understood that there is ample scope for motion technology to be improvised here. Post working in the film, many Indian production companies have shown interest in us, and hence, we decided to collaborate.”
Siddharth Kumar, Director & Creative Head of PixelKraft Studios, says that technology helps production houses increase the market share of movies.
“It also acts as an aid for filmmakers to visually try and explore those genres which are rarely experimented with. We never aimed at aping Avatar or replicating it. The intention was to make people aware of the endless possibilities of the technology,” he says.
