Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said on Wednesday that the months long crisis in Ukraine could end if Kiev halted its military push against pro Kremlin separatists in exchange for their delay of a disputed secession poll as rebels continued to fight the Ukranian army in the east.
If Mr Putin’s earlier call for a delay to Sunday’s independence referendums in east Ukraine is observed and Kiev “halts its military operation and takes steps to launch dialogue, then this can lead Ukraine out of a situation that at this stage is growing only worse,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
No sign of Russia pull back
Washington: A White House spokesman said on Wednesday that US officials have seen “no evidence” that Russian troops have pulled back from the tense border with Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier said that the estimated 40,000 Russian troops deployed on the frontier had withdrawn to their usual training grounds and it should not be a concern for the US or Ukraine.
