Anxiety among staff as Telangana Appointed Day nears
Khammam: With June 2, the Appointed Day for the Telangana fast approaching, the administration has stepped up division-related activities in accordance to the AP State Reorganisation Act 2014 like demarcation of the state’s border after the merger of 205 villages facing submergence with Andhra.
Despite being preoccupied with the counting of municipal, parishad and general elections, the district administration is in a hurry to complete the division-related work before May 15 following orders from Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, said sources.
The process of identifying state-level officials working in the district who hail from Seemandhra region is almost complete and sources say that several officials holding key posts in panchayat raj, planning, education, zilla parishad, social and other wings are certain to be displaced.
With confusion over the fate of zonal-level employees apart from the staff working in 205 villages that are to be merged with Andhra still prevailing, there is a growing anxiety among the employees in the region. It is learnt that the government is expected to issue guidelines regarding options and transfers on Thursday.
According to Telangana employees’ associations, the number of Seemandhra staff in the district are anywhere between 5,000 and 7,000 out of 35,000.
