Hoax bomb threat sparks fear at JNTU
Hyderabad: Panic spread across the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University campus on Wednesday after a person called the cops and said there was a bomb at JNTU. The police rushed to the spot, and after a thorough search confirmed that there were no explosive substances on the campus.
On Wednesday morning, the police control room received a call from an unidentified caller who said that he had overheard a few passersby talking of a bomb at the university. The Kukatpally Housing Board police was immediately alerted. The cops rushed to JNTU and dog and bomb squads were also pressed into action.
V. Sreekanth Goud, the KPHB inspector, said “Following the alert, the teams rushed to JNTU and thoroughly checked the campus. We could not find any explosives there. We are trying to trace the caller who had alerted the police. It is yet to be confirmed if he was a prankster or a genuinely concerned person.”
