Although it arrived a bit late to the global “Happy” wave, the rendition by the “Bay Area Telanganites” of the Pharrell Williams’ viral hit is a celebration of a dream come true at their home land — the formation of Telangana.
Chandra Ananthuni, the creator of the video, says, “We made this as part of Telangana Dawat, an event organised by the Telangana community of San Francisco Bay Area. And we wanted to share our happiness with all.”
The video was shot in a span of two days as Chandra pooled together all his contacts. “I shot the whole video in two days and then put in a couple of hours into editing. I remember running around the place, so that I could get all the people to shoot. Most of them featured in the video are IT professionals. And we know each other through social events. It’s a pretty small community here.”
Speaking of the larger sentiment of the diaspora from the region, the native of Hyderabad talks about the expectations from the new state: “Hopefully, with the smaller state administration, we would be more efficient and there would be more opportunities for those who need it.”
