YSRC asks Election Commission to disqualify Pallam Raju

YSRC filed complained against Pallam for violation of election code of conduct

Hyderabad/Kakinada: The YSR Congress has filed a complaint against Union Cabinet minister Pallam Raju, who is also the Congress candidate for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat, for canvassing at the Kakinada General hospital on Tuesday.

Calling it a violation under the election code, the YSRC wrote to the Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal to initiate action against him for violation of Section 126 of the Representation of People’s Act 1951. The party appealed to the Chief Electoral Officer to disqualify Mr Pallam Raju from contesting the polls.

According to sources, Mr Pallam Raju visited the GGH to enquire about the health of party workers who are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The sources said Mr Pallam Raju greeted the patients in the hospital and some his followers urged the patients and the attendants to vote for the Union minister. This was flashed on TV channels as Pallam Raju violated the poll code. Mr Pallam Raju said he had not campaigned in the hospital in any form. The Inquiry Officer Rambabu said that he would make inquiry on the incident.
