Repoll in 2 Namakkal, Salem booths

Electronic voting machine in the two booths had failed to register the votes cast

Salem: Repolling will be held in two booths in Salem and Namakkal Parliamentary constituencies on May 8 as the electronic voting machine in the two booths had failed to register the votes cast.

Twelve days after Tamil Nadu went to polls, EC has announced repolling in booth no. 213 in the Salem Parliamentary constituency and booth no. 37 in Namakkal constituency on May 8.

The EVMs in the two booths showed "factory mode" which meant that it had not recorded any vote cast by the electorate on April 24.

The district election officials said they had noticed that the EVMs were malfunctioning the day after the polling and sent a report to EC immedia-
tely.
