Chiranjeevi says will lobby for Nellore as Seemandhra capital

Chiranjeevi appealed to the people to give their mandate to the Congress

Nellore: Union minister K. Chiranjeevi promised to lobby for Seemandhra capital in Nellore if the Congress is back to power at the Centre.

Addressing a road show after attending a rally organised in Atmakur, 60 km from Nellore, on Monday, Mr Chiranjeevi said the Congress introduced several welfare schemes for the benefit of poor and appealed to the people to give their mandate to the Congress nominees. Former minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy is contesting for the Atmakur Assembly segment while former MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy is the Congress nominee for Nellore parliament constituency.

Mr Chiranjeevi asked the people of Atmakur to re-elect Mr Ramanarayana Reddy while pointing out the development works the latter initiated in the constituency during his tenure.

Reacting sharply to the efforts of some leaders whom he alleged are resisting his entry into the constituency, Mr Ramanarayana Reddy demanded to know the mistake he has committed while stressing that he is ready get hanged if found at fault.

Mr Narayana Reddy also urged the voters to back his candidature. Former minister Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad and NDCCB chairman Mettukuru Dhanunjaya Reddy were present during the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ramanarayana Reddy alleged that he never interfered in the execution of development works and they were carried out by local leaders while adding that they backstabbed Congress and left the party.
