Governor ESL Narasimhan sets May 15 as deadline for splitting official duties

Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan has set May 15 as the deadline for officials to complete all the formalities with regard to the bifurcation of the state. He made it clear that there must be no spill-over of work after the due date. Interestingly, the results of the general polls will be out on May 16 and Mr Narasimhan wants the ent-ire bifurcation work to be completed a day before that.
On Monday, the Governor accepted the high-level committee recommendations on the state bifurcation, related to Schedules IX and X of the AP Reorganisation Bill-2014, and directed the officials to refer them to the Centre for issuance of notification.
It was decided to immediately bifurcate 20 corporations based on the essential services they offer and revenue generation provided by these corporations such as transport, electricity, housing, seeds distributions etc.
Chief secretary Dr P.K. Mohanty, who was present at the meeting, told the Governor that under Schedule X, 22 government departments are important for both the states and, hence, should be divided along with the parent department.
Special chief secretary to government Pradeep Chandra, who submitted the recommendations of the apex committee under Schedule IX, informed that 89 companies/corporations/societies are listed under this, but 20 were identified for immediate bifurcation to enable them to function from June 2.
He said that statutory audit was conducted up to 2012-13 financial year and provisional audit for 2013-14 is being carried out for all these 20 units, besides joint adalats by the Accountant General and finance departments for reconciliation of loans/liabilities etc.
Principal secretary of higher education Ajay Mishra submitted recommendations on the access to higher education for students in both the states and new institutes proposed post bifurcation.
Advisors to the Governor, Salauddin and A.N. Roy, special chief secretaries S.P. Tucker, Dr N. Ramesh Kumar, P.V. Ramesh and Ramakrishna Rao and other senior officers attended the meeting.
