Kalinga Komatlu split on vote row
Srikakulam: Members of the Kalinga Komatlu were divided into two groups and clashed with each other at their community meeting that was organised at a hotel in Srikakulam on Sunday.
The elders of the caste, K. Harababu, P.V. Ramana and J. Bhimasankar who are also TD leaders, convened the meeting to request their fellow members to vote for the Telugu Desam in the elections.
At the meeting, they also assured that financial aid would be provided to each voter. On coming to know about the meeting, caste leaders who were supporting the YSRC, A. Ramesh, K. Srinu and U. Nagaraju, rushed to the hotel along with their supporters and entered into a heated argument with organisers of the meeting and found fault with them for trying to induce innocent voters on the basis of caste.
At one stage, members of the two groups clashed with each other. As a result, tension prevailed in the hotel premises and traffic was disrupted on the road as supporters of the two groups staged protests in front of the hotel.
On getting information, police and other community elders rushed to the spot and settled the issue by pacifying the groups.
