Aamir Khan blamed for the death of Mountain Man’s daughter-in-law

Bhagirath, son of ‘Mountain Man’ late Dasrath Manjhi, has lost his wife, Basanti Devi, because of financial problems. He feels that Aamir Khan, who had promised them aid didn’t turn up or sent his team as promised, when needed him the most.

Aamir Khan, who visited their village for his TV show "Satyamev Jayate" in February, promised to provide financial help to Dashrath's daughter-in-law Basanti and son Bhagirath.

His son was quoted in a media agency saying, “ If hero (Aamir) could have provided financial help as he promised us, my wife may not have died. She died because of our abject poverty. Aamir has proved himself like leaders or officials, who promised help that never reached us.”

With regards to the ‘shradh’, the financial aid was provided by Bodh Gaya based People First Educational Charitable Trust.

In early March after Aamir Khan visited the family, Shafi Ahmad, state co-ordinator of Aamir’s production had assured that help would be coming soon. Approximately two months after Aamir made claims about helping them, she died.

The couple had also told Khan that they have got no support by the politicians and officials.
