YSRC’s Narasaraopet MP nominee Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy, the Ramky promoter-turned-politician, tells U. Sudhakar Reddy that he would work towards carving out a separate Palnadu district from the existing Guntur to speed up the development in the backward region.
What are your poll prospects in Narasaraopet from where Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, the Congress heavyweight who recently joined TD, will oppose you?
People want to see Jagan Mohan Reddy as the chief minister. Indebted to YSR, they are going to vote for us. Even in the 7 Assembly constituencies, the election is one-sided. We are going to win all of them and the LS seat, no matter who the opponent is.
What are the poll issues that are specific to this Parliamentary constituency? What are your poll promises?
This area is very backward with no infrastructure. Unemployment is a major issue here. Welfare measures are not reaching these villages and lack of governance is a big problem. I want to make Palnadu a separate district in order to bring about fast development. Our experts have prepared master plans for each constituency.
There are certain serious allegations against you in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s quid pro quo investment case. TD has been appealing to the voters to not vote for you as there is a criminal case against you?
That case is baseless. And there was no quid pro quo. When the companies, which didn’t get any alleged “benefits” from the government, brought the shares at the same price in Jagati as us, then where is the question of quid pro quo. We will fight a legal battle and come out of the false and motivated cases.
TD has been claiming that the situation is turning in their favour. What do you say?
The opposition parties had made similar claims during the by-elections. But all that turned out to be a false propaganda. The YSRC swept the by-polls.
Though you appear to be comfortably placed as an MP nominee for YSRC, your MLA nominees in Vinukonda, Gurajala, Pedakurapadu are trailing?
That is not true. All of them are doing well. Even in Gurajala, we will get a majority.
