Assam government seeks additional forces
The authorities have imposed indefinite curfew in trouble-torn areas
Guwahati: Assam home secretary G.D. Tripathy said curfew has been clamped in areas outside trouble-torn BTC area such as Dhubri, Bar-peta, Bongaigaon, Nalbari, Darrang and Sonitpur districts.
The authorities imposed indefinite curfew in Kokrajahar, Chirang and Baksha after the police recovered nine more bodies, including those of five children, on Saturday.
“The Prime Minister spoke to cabinet secretary Ajit Seth and directed him that all help should be extended to the state government to ensure peace,” said Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, adding they have sought additional paramilitary forces and a company of the CRPF’s CoBRA Battalion for the trouble-torn area.
