Sania MIrza-Cara Black enter Portugal semis
Oeiras, Portugal: Indian challenge is alive in the women’s event with Sania Mirza and Cara Black progressing to the semifinals with a 6-3 6-4 win over Silvia Soler-Espinosa and Shuai Zhang.
They are up against third seeded American pair of Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond.India’s challenge ended at the Portugal Open in the men’s events with Divij Sharan and Purav Raja going down against top seeds Pablo Cuevas and David Marrero in the doubles quarterfinals, here.
The unseeded Indian pair lost 2-6 2-6 to formidable Uruguay-Spanish combo in the 485,760 euro clay court event. Left-handed Divij and Raja paid the price for not cashing in on the opportunities they had since they converted just one of the four breakpoints they got in the match. The top seeds though were clinical converting five of the sixes break chances.
