SP might misuse govt machinery to influence poll process: Amit Shah
Varanasi: BJP leader Amit Shah alleged that ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh might misuse the government machinery to influence the poll process in last two phases of polling in the state and urged the EC to deploy paramilitary forces to prevent booth capturing incidents.
"We demand from the Election Commission to deploy paramilitary forces on all booths in UP to avoid incidents of booth capturing by SP men," Shah said on Saturday.
"The state police and administration might not be able to stop such incidents of booth capturing by SP men because of the influence of the ruling SP government and the deployment of central security forces in UP in the last two phases of polling on May 7 and May 12 is a must so that polling is not affected," the BJP leader alleged.
The last two polls held in UP on April 24 and April 30 were influenced by SP and incidents of booth capture by SP workers were also witnessed, he alleged.
"We had already earlier complained about such incidents to the Election Commission and will again complain today," Shah added.
