Andhra Pradesh polls may be target

Real motive of blast still a mystery

New Delhi: The twin bomb blasts on a train in Chennai on Thursday triggered speculation whether poll-bound Andhra Pradesh, where BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was holding five rallies the same day, was the real target.

The bombs with timer devices exploded in the Bengaluru-Guwahati train, which was nearly 75 minutes late when it reached Chennai Central.

While Central intelligence agency officials dismissed such suggestions, the Union home ministry is taking no chances and warned all the states on Thursday of attempts to create unrest during the ongoing election process.

Incidentally, Mr Modi was addressing rallies at Madanapalle, Nellore, Guntur, Bhimavaram and Vizag in AP on Thursday.
