Congress slams Narendra Modi for his silence on Baba Ramdev
New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday questioned the silence of BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi over the controversial remark of Yoga Guru Ramdev against party vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Dalit homes. The Congress wondered if Mr Modi was justifying the insult of Dalits by Ramdev.
“Mr Modi’s silence on the issue is deafening. He speaks on every issue, but why is he silent on this,” asked Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed.
He also asked, “Is Mr Modi giving tactical support to what Ramdev has said.”
The Congress demanded that the EC take action against the yoga guru. “We believe that the BJP is supporting Ramdev on this issue and the Election Commission should look into this aspect as well. The EC should not only take action against Ramdev, but also against BJP,” he demanded. The Congress leader said that the BJP’s silence on the issue showed the mindset of the party BJP toward dalits. “On Tuesday, BJP spokesperson was explaining different connotations of honeymoon to justify what Ramdev had said,” said Mr Ahmed.
Ramdev had set off a controversy by saying, that “Mr Gandhi goes to Dalit houses for honeymoon and for picnics.”
