Protect your skin from sun damage
Chennai: Skin is an amour and a beautiful feature of our body. It is an instrument for touch and it even reveals facts about your age. While your skin may be all of these things, it is also your body’s most prominent and largest organ. It is a savior, it takes only 3 per cent of nutrition even though it weighs 11 per cent of your body weight. That is why even a subtle change in your food habits show quickly on your skin, making it the indicator of your health and nutritional status.
So it’s essential you take care of it, especially during summer time, because of overexposure to UV rays and pollution. This causes premature ageing leading to brown spots, skin wrinkles giving your skin an aged look. Following are some ways to take care of your beautiful skin.
Wear protective clothing
UV protective clothing acts like a physical barrier. Wear light weight fabric like cotton that doesn’t cause itching, scratch from overheat and preferably light coloured one. Also wear a protective hat and sunglasses to go with it.
Avoid wearing thick creamy pasty cosmetics all the time, especially when you’re not going out, allowing your skin to breathe. Instead switch to powder based or thin micronised cream based ones.
Have two showers a day with cold water with mild neutral herbal based body wash, cleansing the pores thus preventing spots.
Get your food right
Avoid sugary food and refined processed foods which cause glycation, a common chemical reaction in our body causing premature aging. Consume plenty of freshly available fruits and vegetables.
Avoid plant based synthetic cooking oils like canola, soya, corn and rice oil. Consume plenty of water, which keeps your skin hydrated and helps to flush away the toxins.
SPF-sun protection factor
Delicate skin around the eye and lips also need extra protection from sun, so use lip balm with sun protection factor.
Throw away last year’s sunscreen and use a new one as it does not last forever. Repeat your sunscreen application depending on your sun exposure and SPF.
