Haute Couture, the IIFA way
Mumbai: With the IIFA aka the “Bollywood Oscars” ending on a high note, the buzz in town is how stars looked their fashionable best as they walked down the green carpet donning creations by Indian designers.
Our couture experts seemed to have done fabulously in keeping with the spring/summer trends of monochromes, that are making waves across the fashion circuit.
Bipasha dazzled in an embellished black Rocky S gown with a train, showing off her toned back and flaunted her figure in a white saree gown by Sonakshi Raaj. Cutout panels, sheer and glitter were another hit on the carpet.
Gauhar Khan followed the Hollywood trend and made an impression in Mandira Wirk’s cutout and sheer panels dress.
Deepika Padukone’s heavily embellished glitter outfit and Dia Mirza’s ombre glitter gown brought the 70s back with Sabyasachi’s creations.
Kalki Koechlin added a desi touch to her outfit with a dainty turban in oxblood! She looked right out of a fairytale in her Gaurav Gupta gown.
Vaani Kapoor chose a heavily embellished golden outfit by Rakesh Agarvwal to strut down the green carpet.
Celebrities like Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor looked comfortable in flaunting international labels. Priyanka stunned the crowds in a nude Monique Lhuiller while Kareena looked gorgeous in Armani monochromes.
What worked for these golden girls is a summery, chic updo and makeup in pastel shades. IIFA’s glamour announced that India had arrived in terms of cinema and fashion and is here to stay.
