Oppo R1 launched, priced at Rs 26,990
Mumbai: The R1 from Oppo is a mid-range smartphone, but not exactly midrange, if the price is to be considered. The phone is not high-end either since it sports a mere 8MP camera and a 5-incher HD display.
Oppo launched its R1 smartphone and has priced it at an unreasonably high of Rs 26,990. The smartphone is Android-based, features a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with a MALI-400MP2 graphics processor and 1GB of RAM. The display is a 5-incher IPS panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 2. An 8MP sensor on the rear makes up for the main shooter, while the front features an impressive 5MP camera.
The internal storage lies at 16GB which cannot be expandable. The dual-SIM smartphone runs on Android Jelly Bean v4.2.1, is slim at 7.1mm and weighs 140g. Additional features include FM radio, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The R1 is powered using a 2410 mAh battery.
It seems that the smartphone is priced high due to its slim profile and aesthetic looks. Else, judging by the hardware, it seems like any regular smartphone priced between Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.
Presently, there are no official online stores for picking up an OPPO. However, Amazon, Snapdeal and a few other online shopping stores seem to have it stocked. If your budget is within Rs 30,000, you should check out definitely smartphones from other brands. The Samsung Galaxy S4, is more powerful than the Oppo R1, has a better camera, slim profile, expandable storage and an octa-core processor, is available for almost a similar price. We don’t see why the Oppo R1 is priced exhorbitantly.
