SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s higher education minister on Tuesday courted controversy by slapping a youth during Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s, poll rally in Baramulla constituency. The youth had stood up to wave some documents seeking the CM’s attention.
Being confronted by NC volunteers, the youth was heard pleading that he was a “staunch supporter” of the party but wanted “justice.” In the video and which has gone viral on social networking sites Mr. Abdullah can be heard saying “Such guys actually want to disrupt our rallies.”
The youth was immediately taken out of the venue by police. Mr. Lone later regretted saying, “I deeply regret losing my calm and getting into a scuffle with an individual who tried to disrupt public meeting to raise a personal grievance.” He claimed that he has met the youth and apologized to him.
