Mr Fraud splits exhibitor gang-up

Directors and the film exhibitors at loggerhead over ban on Mohanlal starrer Mr. Fraud

Kochi: In a new twist to the fight between the directors and the film exhibitors’ federation, a section of exhibitors has criticised the move to ban Mohanlal starrer Mr. Fraud.

The meeting of Kerala Film Producers Association held here on Tuesday failed to reach a consensus on the issue. A section of the members urged the association not to support FEFKA as it would affect hundreds of workers.

Mr Suresh Shenoy, partner of the Shenoys Group, argued that the exhibitors had reached an agreement with the producers to screen the movie and that it was unfair not to screen it now. He added that these kinds of bans would adversely affect the industry.

In another development, the executive committee of the producers decided not to co-operate with director Arunkumar Aravind. The decision was taken pursuant to a complaint filed by Mr Rakesh Bahuleyan, producer of his latest movie One by Two. Mr. Rakesh argued that the movie could not be released during Vishu owing to the non co-operation of the director resulting in huge losses.
