Bollywood young guns to take over?
Mumbai:The young guns seem to be catching up fast with their seniors. After Ranveer Singh made a splash at the box office with consecutive super hits Ram-Leela and Gunday, his good friend Arjun Kapoor made his presence felt with 2 States, which is expected to hit the 100-crore mark. Their close friend and contemporary Varun Dhawan, is not lagging behind either. He enjoyed his first solo success with Main Tera Hero that raked in Rs 50 crores. Is this any indication that Gen X Bollywood is ready to take over from the superstars?
It’s too mammoth a task feels Arjun. He says, “What they have done and achieved over so many years isn’t something that can be taken over by a hit or two. We have to continue earning appreciation in the same fashion as them, and that too for years.” The coming year seems sorted for him with Finding Fanny and Tevar in the pipeline.
Varun is also gearing up for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya besides a couple of untitled films. He says, “The onus is on you to not get carried away. The veterans in the industry have entertained us for decades because they have managed to connect across the country. If we are able to achieve that, it will be a great high. Having said that, I don’t think these actors are going anywhere in the next five years at the least. They will continue to be around as heroes.”
