Water to decide Bhongir winner

People have decided to vote for the candidate who will solve their water crisis

Bhongir: Bhongir Assembly constituency is a TD bastion as the party has won six consecutive Assembly polls here. But this time, it seems that the people have resolved to vote for the candidate who promises to solve the water problem of the area permanently.

The TRS has got a strong grip on many constituencies because of its role in the creation of a separate Telangana state, and in this constituency, many are supporting its candidate Pilla Shekhar Reddy because they believe he solved the water problem in nearby Alair constituency and will replicate the model here too.

“We pay Rs 10 for a 15-litre water can. It’s a big financial burden on a person like me. This time we have decided to vote for the candidate who is firm on solving the water problem in the area. I think this time the fight is between the TRS candidate and the Independent Jitta Balakrishna Reddy as both are keen to solve the water issue,” said Mohd Shafiuddin, a street vendor.

Not many people crowded TRS’ Mr Reddy’s road-show, but that did not bother him.

“I didn’t ask for any fund from the government to install the filters to give free drinking water to people in Alair. I got them installed paying from my pocket. People here know this. I have told them that I’ll replicate the model here also. I’m confident of winning,” said Mr Reddy.

Dismissing Mr Shekhar Reddy’s claim, sitting MLA Uma Madhva Reddy said, “Telangana is granted. Now people want development, which only the TD can do. People know that the Modi government at the Centre and the TD-BJP here is the only option. As far as the water problem is concerned, I have got 50 filters installed in the constituency”

The sitting MP from Bhongir, Mr Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy of the Congress denied Modi-wave and said he would make the NIIMS at par with the AIIMS,Elections 2014 if he gets another term.
