Party is not dealing with individual: BJP
New Delhi: The nearly 8-minute documentary released by the BJP seeks to show how the Gandhi family using their clout helped Robert Vadra in his business deals. Noting that the BJP was not targeting an individual but the issue of corruption, party leader Ravi-shanker Prasad said, “Someone talks about a big heart. Whose big heart helped Robert Vadra to establish his empire in such a short span with an initial investment of '1 lakh.”
The BJP leader was referring to Priyanka Gandhi’s dig at Mr Modi that a 56-inch chest was not needed to run the country but a “big heart” and “moral strength”. Mr Prasad said except Priyanka, the Congress has made no serious attempt to defend Mr Vadra. Alleging that the land deals were a “textbook case of corruption and crony capitalism under state patronage,” he said the BJP wants to know from Mrs Gandhi and Mr Gandhi as to under whose patronage Mr Vadra was allowed to carry out the deals in Haryana and Rajasthan “violating environmental and land laws”.
Mr Prasad also asked whether the firms owned by Mr Vadra paid short-term capital gain tax and as to why a thematic audit in Haryana, to be undertaken by the CAG, was dropped. “We want to know whether it was dropped following inconsistencies found in land use,” he added.
