Plea against Army chief designate

HC to hear plea against Lt. Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag over Assam killings

New Delhi: In a development that may further complicate the already-raging Army chief’s succession controversy, a petition may soon be filed in the Imphal High Court in Manipur regarding the alleged killing of three persons in March, 2010, in Assam.

The HC could hear the petition in due course which alleges that current Army Vice-chief Lt. Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag did not get the matter investigated properly when he headed the Dimapur based 3 Corps and has sought action against certain Army officers including him.

However, Army sources in New Delhi have contended that the probe was carried out thoroughly at the time into certain allegations made in 2012 and that nothingincriminating was found.

Sources also pointed out that Lt. Gen. Suhag had taken over as the 3 Corps Commander only in March, 2011, much after the alleged incident had occurred.

The plea is believed to have made allegations against a military intelligence unit under the 3 Corps regarding the alleged abduction and murder of the three persons.
