It remains to be seen if the government or the RTC will object to the lyrics

The lyrics of a song in the Allu Sirish and Regina starrer Kotha Janta has raised some eyebrows. The song, which makes fun of the Road Transport Corporation, goes: “Osi Prema Rakhasi… Breakulleni RTC… pitcha speed penchesi datamake LOC”. While the Censor Board has passed the film with a U/A certificate without commenting on Ramajogiah Sastry’s lyrics that convey that the RTC buses have no brakes, it remains to seen whether the RTC has anything to say about the song.
There is precedence of public departments objecting to lyrics of songs that show them in bad light. Twelve years back, director Teja had to change the lyrics of an entire song in the film Tejam as the Railways had objected to the lyrics that showed the department in bad light.
“After the Railway Board’s objection, I changed the entire lyrics. I came to know that we can’t pun on public properties in films,” says Teja, adding that public property means that it belongs to the people, so one can’t pun on these.
Allu Aravind is one of the producers of Kotha Janta and his son Allu Sirish plays the lead in the film.
