Poor collections at box office this weekend

Revolver Rani’s Rs six crore opening was lower than the Rs10 crore for Kangana’s Queen
It was a poor weekend at the box office for Bollywood, with none of the new releases Kaanchi, Samrat & Co. and Revolver Rani making much of an impact. None of the three had managed to generate great hype and it was expected that, with Samrat & Co, struggling due to poor promotions, the fight for audience attention would be between Kaanchi and Revolver Rani.
Among these, Revolver Rani had comparatively the best start, fetching around Rs six crore. This was much lower than collections for Kangana Ranaut’s last release Queen (Rs10 crore). Revolver Rani received mixed reviews, and saw a wide release, but didn’t get the expected footfalls. One now waits to see how the week pans out for the film.
As for Kaanchi, the collections were very poor from the opening show itself and there was not much escalation during the weekend either, hence resulting in mere Rs three crore coming in. The film has been given thumbs down by most critics while audience footfall has been abysmal disheartening indeed for a Subhash Ghai film. Samrat & Co. had decent to good reviews, but with uninspired promotions and a poor release with hardly any show timings, weekend collections stayed around the Rs1 crore mark. With a start like this, the film can’t possibly scale any heights.
